Notable highlights from recent Treetor desktop releases.
- A single Settings button now keeps account, plan, billing, access refresh and sign-out controls together in one predictable place.
- Tree styles is now a focused workspace for content profiles, text and layout choices, and annotation-tool presets.
- Returning from the account or billing portal refreshes access automatically, while Check access remains available whenever you want to refresh manually.
- Settings returns you to the tree or library you came from, with library collection and search context preserved.
- Add a device to Treetor Sync by approving a short pairing code from a device that is already connected.
- Encryption keys transfer directly through the approval flow, so the emergency recovery code can stay stored safely for lost-device situations.
- Sync settings shows pending approval requests and lets an existing device approve the next device joining your account.
- Enabling Sync automatically queues every existing tree for upload. You no longer need to open, edit or save each tree again.
- Connect another device with your recovery code and its library downloads automatically. A setup notice helps Sync subscribers connect each device.
- Joining two existing libraries keeps trees from both devices. Identical copies of the same tree are linked; differing copies are preserved separately, including pictures and annotations.
- Sync settings now shows queued work and session totals for uploads, downloads, linked copies and conflicts. Failed uploads retry automatically and errors remain visible.
- Fixed the browser response when returning to the desktop app after signing in.
- One tree folder per install, at DocumentsTreetor by default, and it no longer changes with who is signed in. Existing folders are opened where they already are — nothing is moved.
- Signing in and out no longer changes which trees you see. Previously a signed-in and a signed-out Treetor could open different folders on the same machine.
- Treetor now asks for an account the first time you open it. One click with Google, or a verified email code. After that it signs you in automatically, offline included, and you should rarely see that screen again.
- Sign out and Treetor closes your tree folder rather than just hiding it.
- Text notes and tree editing are now Free. They never become read-only.
- Every account starts with a 30-day Pro trial for picture items, screen capture, and annotation, with no card. When it ends, existing pictures remain visible and exportable.
- Pro is $29.99 once with 12 months of updates; covered builds keep working forever. Sync is the separate subscription for encrypted backup, version history, and all your devices.
- Two Treetor accounts on one computer share the same trees. Only sync is held back, so two accounts can never overwrite each other's filing.
- A path bar above the columns shows the trail from the tree down to the level you are working in, so you can see where you are however deep you go — and clicking an earlier level takes you back to it.
- Collections nest: put a collection inside another one, and the sidebar shows them as a tree. Selecting or searching a collection covers everything filed under it, however deep. Deleting one never deletes a tree — its contents move up a level.
- Search across every tree from the library: Ctrl+F, and each result shows the path it sits at, so you know what a match means before you open it. Collections are results too.
- Ctrl+F inside a tree finds anything in it, with Enter and Shift+Enter stepping through the matches.
- Ctrl+K jumps to any tree or item from anywhere, opening on the trees you worked on most recently.
- Collections sync between your devices: create, rename, nest or delete one on a laptop and it is there on the desktop, filed the same way. Two devices that change different collections keep both changes.
- Sync no longer moves your trees between collections. Which collection a tree sits in is now remembered per device, so filing a tree on one machine leaves your filing on the others alone; a tree arriving on a new device lands in Unsorted.
- Import and export OPML outlines, so trees move between Treetor and Dynalist, Workflowy, OmniOutliner and other outliners; notes, completed items and Dynalist or Workflowy formatting come across as Markdown.
- A dark theme: choose Light, Dark or Follow system under Settings › Appearance, with dark versions of both built-in content profiles so your items match the window.
- Undo and redo work across the whole tree: Ctrl+Z takes back a move, indent, delete, merge, duplicate or picture change as well as your typing, and Ctrl+Y puts it back.
- Code blocks are syntax highlighted for 60+ languages on screen and in Word and PDF exports, and Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I, Ctrl+E and Ctrl+Shift+X add or remove the markers around your selection or the word at the cursor.
- Items render their Markdown when not selected: bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, fenced code blocks with a Copy button, and links you can click, while the text you edit stays plain Markdown.
- LaTeX math renders in place: write $x^2$ inline or $$ … $$ on its own lines for a display formula, and it is typeset as vectors on screen and in PDF exports, and as a picture in Word.
- Markdown import keeps formatting, math and code fences instead of stripping them, and Markdown, Word and PDF exports carry formatting through with code indentation preserved.
- Inside a code block, Tab indents and Enter keeps the indentation; Up and Down move through the lines of a multi-line item before jumping to the next one.
- Press Esc to see the item you are editing rendered without leaving it, and any key or a click returns to the raw text.
- Highlight text with ==double equals==, the way Obsidian does, on screen and in Word and PDF exports.
- A Render formatting switch in the content profile turns rendering off for trees that use asterisks, backticks or dollar signs literally.
- Treetor now checks for updates shortly after launch and asks before downloading a new version.
- Approved updates install only after you close Treetor normally, so your current work is not interrupted.
- After an update is installed, Treetor stays closed until you open it again.
- The Back button now returns you to your tree library in Read & Export mode instead of repeating the read-only notice.
- The new online user guide at treetor.app/guides covers every feature in 44 illustrated topics, linked from the app's Help.
- Item and picture editing gains annotation presets, a dedicated item actions menu, and polished content profile defaults.
- Markdown, Word, and PDF exports now include your pictures, placed under their captions at the right tree depth.
- Markdown exports keep images in a folder beside the file, or embed them inline for a single self-contained document.
- Pictures that cannot be found are listed after the export instead of silently disappearing.
- Capture your screen directly into a tree item, then mark it up with the annotation editor before saving.
- Screen capture is available on macOS Apple Silicon and Linux as early access alongside the Windows release.
- Picture items keep re-editable annotation sources alongside the flattened PNG for later updates.
- Production account, trial, entitlement, download, and admin flows are now connected end to end.
- Switching accounts now reopens the correct account-specific local workspace immediately.
- Expired trials and subscriptions keep read and export access while editing pauses until the entitlement is refreshed.
- Desktop shell refreshes immediately after a successful browser sign-in, so your trial or subscription state shows up without restarting Treetor.
- Export and import subtrees as portable Treetor Pack (.tpack) files, so you can share a single branch without exporting the whole book.
- Cached entitlement tokens now align with the live API issuer, so existing sessions keep working after backend updates.
