Data & storage
Treetor keeps a working copy of your trees in one local data folder. Settings › Data & storage shows the folder this installation uses and lets you move it to a bigger drive or another local location.
Where your data lives
The info card is read-only; the fields under it change the folder.
- Current data folder — the folder this installation is using right now. It does not change when you sign in or out.
- Author database directory — where Treetor keeps Treetor.db and one media folder per tree.
- Account settings file — the per-Windows-user file that remembers which data folder this installation opens.
- Workspace marker — records which account owns Sync for this folder; it does not hide or lock local trees.
- Custom data folder — leave empty for the default under Documents, or point it anywhere.
- Folder path — type a path or use Browse….
- Browse… — pick the folder in a dialog; Reset returns to the default.
- Save — stores the choice. The new folder is used after you restart Treetor.
Moving existing trees
Saving a new folder does not move anything by itself: after a restart the new folder starts empty. To take your trees with you, click Copy existing data to new folder before restarting — it copies the database, every tree's media, and the folder's Sync metadata. The old folder is left in place until you delete it yourself.
